The Tony Nominations 2010 were announced last May 4, 2010, Tuesday. This award is given for regional theatre all over the United States. Tony Awards are considered the highest U.S. theatre honor in the entire U.S. theatre industry. Tony Awards has been televised nationally since 1967.
Also, it is said in their announcement that the sixty fourth Tony Awards will be held at Radio City Music Hall on June 13 of this year. The nominees were selected based from their performances in the shows in the season of 2009-2010. Many famous Hollywood celebrities have been chosen and listed on the line-up for the special categories of awards.
Some of the stars selected for Tony Awards are Denzel Washington for best actor category based from his magnificent work in “Fences”, Jude Law of Hamlet, Live Schreiber, Alfred Molina and Christopher Walken. Moreover, Scarlett Johansson was nominated for her graceful performance in a play entitled “A View from the Bridge.”
Catherine Zeta Jones was also nominated for her work in “A Little Night Music.” According to her, she was very excited after the news reached to her for being nominated. Also, she said that it was a very good experience working everyday with people who are so talented. The fact that she was recognized on her very first Broadway participation made her very much happy.
Many other nominations were made for this very special award. And according from those who were listed in the line-up of nominees, they are very happy to be included in a very prominent Awards program. Among the nominees are American Idiot, Memphis, Fela! and Million Dollar Quartet for the top musical category. Red, In the Next Room or the vibrator Play, Time Stands Still and Next Fall were also chosen for the same category.
