A lot of people are admiring Tom Cruise not simply because he is famous in Hollywood, but also for his talent in acting. He is a nice American celebrity for most individuals around the globe except in Germany. Most Germans do not want Cruise to play the role of anti-Nazi because he confirms that he is a member of the Scientology Cult. Germans prefer some other actor to play the role and it can never be Cruise. Germans Defense Ministry states that if Cruise will portray the role, they will not let filmmakers enter in the ministry.

Claus Schenk Graf von Stauffenberg is the beloved anti-Nazi German who led the assassination of Adolf Hitler. Von Stauffenberg has a great contribution for the military assistance against the Nazi government so Germans are respecting him that much. Cruise is due to portray the role but due to his background in Scientology Cult, Germans are not allowing him. According to Ursula Cabreta, the selection of Cruise is a sign of disrespect to Stauffenberg.

According to Germans, it is not about the actor himself, it is about their struggle with scientology. They just want to pay respect to their national hero. On the other hand, the CEO of United Artist Paula Wagner, the role was offered to Cruise because the director Bryan Singer think that he was the perfect actor to play the role. In addition, Cruise admire the character he is about to play and his personal beliefs is insignificant, she added.

There is a long history of arguments about Scientology cult. German authorities believe that people behind the church are just after collecting money. The concerned group rejected that allegation on the other hand. Along with other European countries, Germany made several laws against such cult group. The present German regime tried to stop the establishment of another Scientology headquarters in Berlin but they fail to stop it. Cruise together with his wife went in that head quarters recently.

Von Stauffenberg’s memory is close to Germans because of what he has done in the past against Hitler. Though the assassination that von Stauffenberg planned fails, Germans still appreciate his effort, for it symbolizes resistance to the Nazis and Hitler killed him later than time.

Berthold, the son of von Stauffenberg state to Suddeutsche Zeitung that Cruise must keep his hands away from his father. If cruise will portray the role of Von Stauffenberg then it may result in untoward incidents. A German actor agrees that choosing Cruise for the movie is a great mistake. He added that from the start, the idea of allowing American actor wear a German uniform and portray a role is absurd.

The movie still push through and it seems that the commotion do not affect the movie. The ministry does not allow access to the buildings including the office of von Stauffenberg. Therefore, filmmakers decided to replicate the setting in a studio outside Berlin. The government does not take legal charges against Cruise for his role as well. Filmmakers believe that if the commotion will affect the movie, it may just increase their ticket sales.
