Skype terminates some executives before Microsoft buyout closes


Some of the top executives of Skype Technologies were terminated in a move that will lessen the expenditure for those executives after Microsoft completes its buyout of the company.

HTC to pay Microsoft $5 for each Android phone produced


Microsoft reached an authorized deal with HTC, a Taiwanese smartphone maker, where HTC must compensate the giant software $5 for each handset of Android that it produces.

The deal also includes that HTC still pay the Microsoft even if they do not make it to the market. A report issued by an analyst from the Citigroup exposed the special agreement between the giant software and the smartphone maker over a disagreement involving Microsoft patents.

A lot of analysts reacted to the rumors. According to Collin Gillis, an analyst in BGC Partners in New York, buying Nokia is not a good deal for Microsoft. He said that Microsoft can already get all the benefits that it needs from Nokia via the software deal so there will be no bigger benefits when they purchase the whole company. He said that Microsoft knew this fact so going beyond the deal and purchasing Nokia is a reckless decision for the Software giant.

Gillis said that the rumors about the purchasing deal of Microsoft and Nokia will still be considered as rumors until the Software giant make a clear statement.

Microsoft’s quarterly net income increases 31%
