Jackson Silhouette Featured in a Billion Pepsi-Cola Cans

For the global pop culture advertisement campaign, the maker of Pepsi cola is planning to put the silhouette of the late Michael Jackson onto one billion Pepsi cola in can.

The limited edition Pepsi cola tin cans will be available first in China and in the United States later this month but it will be available in some other countries in Asia, South America and Europe as well later this year. The image of the late pop star will appear in some of his iconic poses for the advertisement that will go along with the silver anniversary of his album “Bad”. Some may remember the late king of pop appearing in the commercial of Pepsi cola as “the choice of a new generation” some times in the 80s.

The supporters of the musician may participate for a contest as well in order to win tickets for the show Cirque du Soleil, “Michael Jackson: The Immortal World Tour”. As part of the campaign, estate of Jackson, Pepsi and Sony Music Company will be working hand in hand to share new mixes from the album of Jackson “Bad”.

The executives of Jacksons Estate, John Branca and John McClain released a statement saying that they are thrilled to bring the king of pop and Pepsi together in celebration for the 25th year anniversary of the album “Bad” and tour featuring the iconic poses of the singer in a billion Pepsi tin cans.

The limited edition Michael Jackson inspired tin cans is a part of New “Live for Now” campaign of Pepsi that is aiming to harness pop culture while increasing sales. At present, Pepsi cola is at the third spot in the declining sales of carbonated drinks in the United States. It is behind Coca-cola and Diet coke. Pepsi announced earlier this week that rapper Nicki Minaj will be featured in a Pepsi commercial still as part of the “Live for Now” campaign.

Jackson has been attached to Pepsi since early 1980s following his appearance along with the Jackson 5 brothers in a Pepsi advertisement. However, the memories of the singer with Pepsi is not always good because the famous hair of Michael was caught by fire while shooting a Pepsi commercial in Los Angeles exposing his scalp. The accident was blamed to addiction of painkillers of the musician leading to his confinement rehabilitation center for proper treatment in early 1990s.

The king of pop passed away at the age of 50 years as a result of Profofol and sedative overdose while his doctor is serving four year of imprisonment in Los Angeles as a result of involuntary killing. However, the fans of the musician keep on supporting him in terms of album sales. This might be the reason behind Jackson is back with Pepsi. Sales of carbonated drinks keep on decline and Jackson may somehow lend a hand in this particular dilemma.

A Health Practitioner Support Murray’s claim

The eminent Hollywood celebrity Michael Jackson died last 2009 due to Profofol overdose and according to a nurse Jackson asked for the help of a nurse to obtain the drug Profofol. The nurse tried to persuade the musician to stop taking the drug but she failed to do so. Last week, an expert with regard to profofol spoke in favor to Jackson’s side. However, a nurse spoke in favor of Jackson’s lawyer last Tuesday divulging that Jackson is addicted to the drug.

A dietitian named Cherilyn Lee wh is working along with the musician spoke about the issue. Her state is in favor to the defense after disclosing that Jackson asked for her help in having the drug. This is in relation to the case filed against the doctor Conrad Murray. The doctor is accused of involuntary manslaughter after the demise of the famous musician about two years ago.

Being the accused, Murray cannot testify in the case so his attorney let a health practitioner to prove that the celebrity is drug dependent. Nurse Cherilyn Lee pointed out that the celebrity is dependent to the drug Profofol for he asked the help for the nurse in obtaining it but she refused to help the star. She divulged that information during a court trial last Tuesday.

Jackson is being attacked by insomnia during that time so she asked the help of the nurse in getting a sedative but the nurse refused to give the medication. The nurse offered natural remedies to Jackson instead but Jackson told her that sedative is the only thing helped him go to sleep. This occurrence happened two months before she passed away due to sedative overdose. He also is inquiring about the anesthetic agent Profofol during that time.

While sitting in the witness’ chair, Lee told the exact statement of Jackson stating that the drug will knock him out immediately just after she introduce the sedative in his veins. As a nurse, Lee knows that the drug in only administered to a patient following a surgery in a hospital set up. She is knowledgeable with regard to the side effects that the drug caused so she did not gave it.

The nurse even stated to Jackson that the drug can make him forget the lyrics of his songs but the singer seemed unpersuaded after all. After providing such information to the star, Jackson stated that he only needs someone to monitor him the time he go to sleep whenever the drug is administered and everything will be fine.

During the trial last Tuesday, It was stated by the lead lawyer of the defense Ed Chemoff that he failed to mention the name of his client the time he made the list of witness that may help in proving the innocence of Murray. Murray can always make the decision with regard to the flow of his case but by doing it is unlikely for the case against him is getting stronger. Last Monday, the longtime physician of Jackson disclosed that the day before his demise, he is asking for a medicine that can make him sleep. That statement of a doctor can serve as a reference for the case.

Profofol Expert Shafer Spoke about Jackson’s Case

After rescheduling the trial for the case of Michael Jackson against his cardiologist Dr. Conrad Murray, the hearing pushed through last Wednesday. The witness experienced personal problem causing the delay. The witness was Dr. Steven Shafer, he is an expert with regard to anesthetics particularly Profofol. Profofol was the anesthetic agent that caused cardiac arrest to Jackson leading to his demise.

The defense lawyer previously claimed that Jackson administered Profofol directly to his veins thus resulting to overdose. However, Shafer told the judges that the amount of drug in Jackson’s blood stream is too high if he administered drug on his own. The idea of Shafer does not support the statement of the defense about their theory in self-administration.

With regard to the other theory of the defense about swallowing a fatal number of sedative pills Lorazepam, Shafter explained to the jurors that it is not possible for those pills to be in immediate effect. This theory of the defense is drawn out when Murray admitted to the police that he had introduced Profofol and Lorazepam to the singer’s blood stream.

In addition, Shafer stated that the source of high amount of Profofol in the blood is intravenous injection and if the singer is the one who administered it then he needed to inject several times. Therefore, even if Jackson administered the drug, the level of Profofol in his blood will not reach the result to what is recorded in his 2009 autopsy, Shafer stated. He also stated that people who are under anesthesia might not wake up just to administer additional dose.

As Shafer is explaining his points, he used charts and even demonstrated how the drug is administered. He explained the action of the medication along with its effects such as temporary cessation of breathing while the heart continued to pump blood. Shafer stated that even if the singer injected 100 milligrams of Profofol, his system could still function to lower the dose. Shafer does not support the claim of the defense in the end.

Murray claimed previously that he only introduced 25 milligrams of Profofol and 2 milligrams of Lorazepam on the day the singer died. However, the prosecutors argued that he gave Jackson a continuous infusion of the drug after giving such doses. Autopsy proved that Profofol was the main cause of Jackson’s demise and the sedative Lorazepam just potentiated the action of Profofol.

Murray’s lawyer later claimed that Jackson might swallowed more Lorazepam pills leading to cardiac arrest but Shafer stated that the amount of Lorazepam found in the singer’s stomach is insufficient to support his claim. It follows that Jackson might not even swallowed Lorazapam at all, Shafer added. To support his idea, Shafer stated that the amount of Lorazepam in Jackson’s blood is too high so it does not support that Murray only administered 2 milligrams. Murray might have administered a higher dose of Lorazepam, he added.

Shafer disclosed studies that Profofol is not dangerous if taken through the mouth in contrast to the idea of Murray that Jackson might swallow Profofol. If Murray was convicted in the case, he might face 4 years of imprisonment.

Jackson’s Trial On Hold for Two Days

The demise of the singer Michael Jackson was still under controversy as of today. The trial against his physician Dr. Conrad Murray is still ongoing. Actually, it was on hold because the key witness’ father died so the judge needs to reschedule the hearing. One more reason about the suspension of hearing is to allow the defense team to examine what really is in the singer’s stomach. The trial will resume on a Wednesday at around 8:30 AM instead of Monday.

The witness who cannot make it in the trial is Shafter. His father pass away while he is on his way to the conference so he states that he cannot make it to the event. He is an expert in the field of anesthetics and pharmacology so he was selected to elaborate the probable effects of Profofol on the human body. The cause of Jackson’s death is believed to be Profofol intoxication. Jackson’s party believe that Murray administer a fatal dose of the drug and did provide necessary intervention when the singer went to cardiac arrest.

To counteract the claim of the defense that Jackson administered a 25mg of profofol though direct IV, Shafter may also give his idea and if possible point out evidences. After Shafter can give his testimony, the defense will also present about 15 witnesses to support their claims.

Dr. Murray was charged with homicide after the demise of Jackson because of excessive administration of the drug Profofol while trying to help him fall asleep. Once the medical practitioner was found guilty, he will face four years of imprisonment. Profofol is a drug that is administered to induce sleep to patients who need sedation in various reasons. Aside from Profofol, Lorazepam is found in the singer’s stomach. Lorazepam is an anxiety drugs given to patients with anxiety disorders that is a potent downer as well.

In previous trials, the defense lawyer have pointed out that Jackson was in a state of addiction and he alleged that Jackson have taken a dose of the drug while his doctor was out of his room. Later on, the defense drops that theory and focus instead on a fatal cocktail of the drugs. The lawyer of the defense now claims that Jackson administers an extra dose of Lorazepam thus resulting in adverse reaction leading to his death.

The lawyer of Jackson’s party prosecutor David Walgren states the inconsistency of the defense. The evidence that they presented showing that there is an eighty-two milligram of Lorazepam in his stomach is not consistent to the cocktail that the defense is trying to point out. Before the trial resume on Wednesday, the judge is expecting that the defense team can provide concrete evidences about their new theory to support it. The trial will last for five days and most probably will end on this month.

Michael Jackson’s death in mid 2009 was still unsolved up to present. His family believe that his personal doctor fail to perform his duty well thus resulting in the incident. However, the defense claims that Jackson is an addict and he administered additional dose of medication without the knowledge of his doctor that results in his demise.
