The movie “Fast Five” became one of the most watched movies on the box office gaining the top spot when it was first shown on theaters. Today, Fast Five already lapped its predecessors by earning an amount more than $600 million worldwide.
This weekend, the fifth installment of the Fast and the Furious collected more than $370,000 from foreign markets making their earnings reached a total of $601.6 million based on the estimate produced by Universal Pictures, the distributor of the movie. It is said that the movie’s earnings will still increase until October because the franchise is not yet released in Japan. It will be released on October.
It simply means that “Fast Five” is now the highest grossing film released based on the franchise of the Fast and the Furious. It has more earnings than the previous four films of the Fast and the Furious. In 2009, the fourth installment of the film gained a total grossed income record of more than $363 million worldwide. It is holding the record of the highest grossed film of the franchise before Fast Five was introduced.
Because of the success of the latest film, Universal Pictures already plans to produce another franchise of the film. The studio already announced that they have plans to produce the sixth installment of the film for Memorial Day 2013.
