Legendary Pictures to mimic success of Fast Five by making Hot Wheels movie

According to Legendary Pictures, it is trying to mimic the success of the movie Fast Five by creating an edgier movie based on the well-known toy line of Mattel, the Hot Wheels.

Way back in 2003, Columbia Pictures purchased the rights to produce a live-action feature movie of Hot Wheels with Joseph McGrinty Nichol, which is also known as McG, joined to direct. After three years, the director decided that he was only interested to produce the movie.

The movie project never grown much energy after that and in 2009, Warner Bros. lifted up the rights and they brought on board Joel Silver to produce the movie. As premature as the previous year, Alex Heineman, a producer from Silver Pictures, was still discussing the movie and saying how Hot Wheels will be a marked departure not only from movies which is a toy-based, but also same theme franchise movies, such as The Fast and the Furious.

Spark forward to Fast Five making more than $587 million all over the world and there is abruptly a very distinct attitude. Furthermore, Silver Pictures is no longer concerned with Hot Wheels, but Legendary Pictures is now in premature cooperation to take over the movie project.

Variety said that the movie will not be targeted at toddlers. Instead, it will be an edgier picture next to the lines of the Universal Pictures’ box-office hit movie, the Fast Five. Hot Wheels is still a toddlers’ first and leading toy, but the last ten years has observed a considerable upsurge in the number of adult collectors.

In addition, there are several websites connected to displaying, selling and buying these collections, and Mattel is very attentive of the impact this has had on their own sales. in spite of one of the challenges in making an jittery Hot Wheels film, it is going to be compelling an overall viewers that it is not a kid fare.
