Kelly Clarkson will return Thursday next week to American Idol stage for a performance with Barbadian R&B singer-songwriter Rihanna.
The 28-year old American pop-rock singer, who became increasingly popular after winning the inaugural season of the talent television series in 2002, is set to appear on the Idol stage as a special guest performer Thursday night as the Season 10 contestants whittled down to eight finalists.
According to People Magazine, Clarkson rocked through a medley of her top hits during her guest appearance on The Ellen DeGeneres Show Wednesday, kicking off her most popular hits such as Miss Independent, Walk Away and Since U Been Gone. The original American Idol proves she still has the oomph factor that excites her fans. In an interview with the audience after the show, they said that Clarkson brought the house down even though the latter may not have a new album coming out until September.
The pop singer recently took to her Facebook page to announce that her fifth studio album has been delayed. Clarkson noted that the album has already been recorded, but cannot release to public until September. Nonetheless, Clarkson’s popularity has still not faded, as Nielsen SoundScan announce early this month that the pop singer is the highest selling winner to the tune of 23 million albums and 36 million singles sold.
Rihanna, who is still fresh from surprising the CMA Awards audience with her strong performance of California King Bed, will also appear on the Idol stage of next week’s result show. Idol fans are expecting that this guest appearance will inspire the remaining contenders to enjoy success like Clarkson had.
