Building a stronger online presence via a marketable website is a business necessity, although for most Internet marketers, it’s more like a dream. In order to make sense of search engine optimization or SEO improvements for your website, certain basics must be targeted.
Every website needs traffic, which tops the charts for most books written on the subject of Internet marketing.
If you’re going to go for traffic, the first thing you must do is sign on for the long haul. You’re not going to get long-term, sustainable traffic, unless you commit yourself to the challenge.
Actually, your first commitment must be to avoid short-cuts at all costs. What this means is, most so-called short cuts to building waves of traffic are nearly impossible to follow. And those that can be followed tend to lead to dead ends.
So let’s get started on the right path. It begins with…
Search Engine Optimization (SEO)
Step 1… Once you’ve decided on your niche you’ll want to spend half a day on Google surfing for your website. Use every group of questions you can think of to find your website. Naturally, you’ll want to think from the mind-set of a customer who has the desire to find your product but doesn’t know exactly how to ask the right questions. Are you getting the picture? Don’t be stingy with your time on this part of the process. Really commit yourself to thinking it through.
Step 2 … Remind yourself everyday that This Is A Business. This Is Your Business.
It is not unusual for marketers to operate dozens of websites that produce less than $1 a day of income….or profit. They tend to get the ball rolling without short term and/or long term goals.
I’ve been in business for more than 30 years so you can just take my word for this part of the process….If you don’t write down your plan for success…you will fail to succeed. Write your plan. It doesn’t have to be perfect. Write your plan!
Step 3 …Run your business like your family is looking over your shoulder. Work smart and don’t allow yourself to get distracted by traffic exchanges with their offers of free visitors and bonuses and such. While traffic exchanges are proven to work well for opt-in list for MLMs and the like, you want to be sure to evaluate the return of investment of your time VS how many leads are you grabbing for each hour invested. (BTW, your hours are worth $100 each)
Step 4 … Make sure you keep your eyes and ears open. Social networks are good, however, want ads, especially those that display relationship ads, are an overlooked vault of niche ideas. Once you’ve stopped laughing, think about this. Why in the world would so many adult males and females be taking their valuable time to search the internet, pay for newspaper classifieds, and focus a significant amount of their time and energy on the pursuit of advertising for a relationship?
My focus here is not to suggest that you consider building a website in the relationship niche. That one is way too competitive. However, there are spin-offs to consider. One example is ebooks on communication skills.
This could be pitched toward tips for helping individuals learn how to communicate more effectively. People need help learning how to communicate better not only in regard to love relationships, but also for every day situations, including what to say to experience more wins in job interviews.
Niche research is part of an ongoing business development process. You should be generating at least 10 niche ideas every two weeks. And registering at least 1 new niche site from those ideas. By the end of 12 months you’d be close to earning walk away income!
This is the starting point of your step by step Internet marketing and affordable seo marketing campaign. The drill is a simple 3 step approach:
1. Do the research for competition in your chosen niche. Learn what the major players are doing and mimic their style and strategies.
2. Commit yourself to your business. Manage your activities and provide yourself with written goals including a timetable for completion. You’d never start driving toward a destination you had never visited, unless you had a road map. Why wouldn’t you follow the same approach to building a successful Internet business?
3. Work smart and defend your time and energy against distractions. The Internet is filled with lights and colors and graphics that are well designed to grab attention. During the extensive research that is part of building your business, your attention will be grabbed by some of the best designers in the business. Stay Sharp…Stay Focused!
4. Schedule time for brain-storming. Your business will fly or die based on the new ideas that you’re able to feed it. Do not stop the flow of ideas. There’s always a way to improve your processes, practices and strategies.
Some of the best minds in the business are in the heads of online gurus, and they don’t keep secrets. Just read their ads and you’ll soon know how they think. Why not modify and apply their ideas and use them to improve your own campaigns?
