One of the current claims that shaken the medical profession in London are the statement and researches that was released by Dr. Andrew Wakefield. The 53 year old doctor made a public statement that the common childhood vaccine can cause autism. It was on Monday that Dr. Wakefield was banned on Britain to practice medicine not only for this claim. He was banned in his profession because of his invasive medical procedure he done with some children that is not actually needed. This occurred in January when Dr. Wakefield was proven to be taking blood samples for the benefit of his study from children. The British Medical Council considered this as unprofessional as he has taken the blood samples in the birthday party of his son. According to reports, he gave $7.20 with every child that cooperates with him.

Dr. Andrew Wakefield was given the sever sanction form the General Medical Council. The doctor has already abandoned his field in 2004 but continue to pursue his passion in medical research. He puts up a center for his study to childhood especially with the developmental disorders in children. This is where he comes up with his claim about the childhood vaccines causing Autism with some children.

He abandoned Texas center last February but he continues his battle about his treatment in Britain. He said in an interview that the decision of the British was made to silence him for what he knows. The link of the use of vaccine to autism made the mother thinking twice to have the vaccines for their baby. Some of the critics of Dr. Wakefield said that his study just created a big increase in the measles cases in countries. The evidence and scientific basis that was used have failed to prove the relation between vaccines and autism.

Dr. John Walker-Smith who is one of Dr. Wakefield’s associates was also barred because he was proven guilty of professional misconduct. While on the other hand Dr. Simon Murch who is also one of the associates was found not guilty so he can still continue with his profession.
