Representative from the Los Angeles Coroner confirmed that the sudden death of Heavy D was caused by pulmonary embolism as a complication of deep vein thrombosis. The 44 years old musician was found struggling to breathe outside his house in Beverly Hills apartment November last year and pass away in a nearby hospital later on. It was also confirmed by coroner’s office that no drugs or alcohol were traced in his blood so they made the conclusion that heart disease is associated to the incident.

In the case of Heavy D, the blood clot came from his leg. It is congruent to the symptom that they observed that was described as struggling to breath. The common manifestations of pulmonary embolism include difficulty of breathing, chest pain on inspiration as well as palpitation.
