‘Resident Evil: Afterlife’ tops up in the box office hit in the U.S. this weekend with 26.7 million dollars worth of ticket sales.
This is the fourth installment in a series of movie adaptations of the ever famous “Resident Evil” video game of Capcom. It is a science-fiction action film that features Milla Jovovich, Kim Coates, Ali Larter, Shawn Roberts, Borris Kodjoe, Spencer Locke, and Wentworth Miller. This film was directed by Paul Anderson, who was the director of the original 2002 film as well.
In this film, Milla Jovovich plays the role of Alice, one of the few survivors of the T-Virus outbreak. Alice went to Los Angeles to seek remaining survivors from the outbreak. Meanwhile, the hunt for Alice continues as Albert Wesker, the Chairman of Umbrella Corporation, wants to have her and intends to use her DNA to procure a solution in controlling the T-virus’ mutation.
As for this weekend, the film has managed to be on the top spot for the North American box office. Right next to it was the bank-robbery thriller film “Takers” that land into the second spot and George Clooney’s spy flick film “The American” on the third spot.
In the fourth place was the film “Machete”, starring Robert Rodriguez and Ethan Maniquis. It was followed by Drew Barrymore and Justin Long’s romantic comedy film “Going the Distance”, landing on the fifth spot. As for the sixth, seventh, and eight spot, there’s “The Other Guys” of Will Ferrer’s latest slapstick comedy film, the documentary style horror-movie “The Last Exorcism”, and “The Expendibles” of Sylvester Stallone.
Lastly, on the ninth and tenth spot were “Eat, Pray, Love”, an adaptation of Elizabeth Gilbert’s novel about divorcee’s spree to Italy, and portrayed by Ryan Murphy; and Leonardo DiCaprio’s sci-fi film “Inception.”
